  2. Ofcom has recently announced steps to protect customers from penalty charges should they wish to cancel due to mid-contract price increases..The thrust of the new guidance is to protect consumers (and small business customers employing fewer than 10 people) against unexpected mid-contract price increases. The guidance still allows for the possibility of expected price increases. For example, resellers can legitimately tell customers before they sign up, that prices will increase by X amount in the future. As long as they specify what X is, and the point at which it will begin to be levied, before the customer signs the contract A press release can be found here http://media.ofcom.org.uk/2014/01/22/protection-for-consumers-against-unexpected-mid-contract-price-rises/?utm_source=updates&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=price-rises-fixed-contracts-guidance-nr
